IVADO — Quebec-side implementation partner for Canada's *AI for All* strategy

NA-Canada (Quebec / Montréal; pan-Canadian implementation)

Content

IVADO (Institute for Data Valorization) is a Montréal-based AI consortium, anchored at Université de Montréal. 150+ partners, 1,400+ scientists, partner with HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal. IVADO is positioning itself as the Quebec-side implementation partner for Canada’s AI for All national strategy (June 4, 2026).

The R3AI project — IVADO’s flagship substantive initiative. R3AI = Robust, Reasoning, Responsible AI. The project is positioned as IVADO’s contribution to AI for All’s vision for trustworthy AI development. The project frames scientific rigour and social relevance as “mutually reinforcing, not in tension.”

June 8, 2026 statement (verbatim, IVADO):

“The publication of this national strategy is an important milestone for Canada’s AI ecosystem. It builds on collective work to which IVADO has been contributing for nearly a decade, and opens the door to an even more structured collaboration with the federal government, national institutes, and our academic and industry partners, in service of an AI that benefits all of Canadian society.”

IVADO’s substantive workstreams:

Why IVADO is positioned where it is. IVADO is not the only AI consortium in Canada (there’s the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, the Vector Institute in Toronto, Mila in Montréal). But IVADO is the only one positioned as the AI for All strategy’s Quebec-side implementation partner. The federal strategy was developed through 11,000+ Canadian submissions; IVADO is explicitly aligned with the resulting strategy.
